Joshua Tree crossings planned in California’s Mojave Desert to protect wildlife with $6M-plus funding

Two wildlife crossings are planned over State Route 62 near Joshua Tree National Park in California’s Mojave Desert. The projects aim to reconnect fragmented habitats and reduce wildlife-vehicle collisions. Researchers are studying bighorn sheep, mountain lions and bobcats to guide the designs, with more than $6 million in grants supporting engineering, environmental studies and planning.
