Archaeologists have discovered an approximately 1,800-year-old Roman military camp in southwestern Slovakia that may have been used by Emperor Marcus Aurelius' army during the Marcomannic Wars. The site contains skeletons believed to be Roman soldiers buried in shallow graves, ditches and wells, along with weapons, armour, coins and military sandals. Researchers say the rare discovery could provide new insights into Roman military campaigns, although years of scientific analysis are needed to answer key questions about the soldiers' deaths and the camp's abandonment.
