Tasmania removed invasive rice grass; fish species more than doubled in 3 years

Tasmania’s Duck Bay wetland is showing signs of recovery after years of work to remove invasive rice grass. Circular Head Landcare has reduced the weed from about 50 hectares to five, allowing native saltmarsh plants to return. University of Tasmania scientists found fish species increased from five to 11, with yellow-eye mullet and other species returning to restored areas.
