A village mandate prohibiting alcohol consumption has been imposed in Vizhunthamavadi village, near Velankanni in Nagapattinam district. It has been announced that unmarried youths found consuming alcohol will face a fine of ₹5,000, while married individuals who consume alcohol and cause any trouble will also be fined ₹5,000.
